How to Register a New Domain Name

In this guide, we will share with you steps to register a new domain. But first, let's define what does registering a domain name mean, and the types of domain name extensions. Registering a domain name is the process of reserving the name for your website (for example: mydomain.com) ... The main condition here is that if you want to register a new domain name, this domain must be available for registration and not taken by someone else. For instance, you cannot register google.org because it's already taken by Google. There are different types of domain name extensions, for example .com , .net , .org , .store , and so on. From a technical perspective, no much difference between the types of domain extensions, but rather they just serve to illustrate the purpose of a website more precisely, for example, using a .store or .shop extension will highlight that your website represents a store or a shop, more than what .org would do. How to Register a New Domain: Note: Registering a domain name is just reserving the name, in other words, the domain is not going to function unless pointed to a web server (i.e: linked with a hosting plan or a server). This guide assumes you only want to register a domain. If you want to also order a hosting plan from us, we have another guide for that purpose. Step 1: Visit the Domain Check page: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/cart.php?a=add&domain=register - First enter your desired domain name in the search (example: mywebsite.com). - Next, check the I'm not a robot box (note that if you are logged in to your account, this box may not be present so it can be skipped). - Click the Search button. Step 2: Search results will then appear. If your desired domain is Available , click the Add to Cart button. If your domain is Not Available: repeat the search steps until you find a suitable result ... Alternatively, you can scroll down and explore some of the other suggestions. After clicking the Add to Cart button, click the Continue button on the bottom corner of the page to proceed to next steps. Step 3: Next step is configuring your domain. - ID Protection: this is optional, but it's recommended to be enabled. - Nameservers: - Name servers are required for linking your domain with hosting service or a server. By default, our name servers will be filled in this step, but these are only required if you will be ordering a Shared Hosting or a Business Hosting plan from us in the future. - So you can change these to something else if you will be hosting your domain with another provide. Your provider should supply their name servers for you to use on your domain. After configuring your domain, click Continue to proceed to next steps. Step 4: Final step is review and checkout. 1. Billing Details - select option A if you already have an account with us. - Select option B if you are a new client, then fill out the required info. 2. Payment Method: Select your desired payment method from the list. Depending on the payment method selected, further instructions will be displayed in the invoice details page after you checkout and submit the order. The rest (mailing list and Additional Notes) are optional. The checkbox of Terms of Service is required. Make sure your carefully read the Terms of Service, and then tick the box to be able to proceed. After completing all the required info, click on the Checkout button, after which you will be redirected to the invoice page for making the payment. Depending on the payment method selected, further instructions will be displayed in the invoice details page.

How to Transfer a Domain to Us

In this guide, we will share with you the steps to transfer a domain to us. First, we would like to emphasize that transferring a domain name does not mean transferring the services associated with it (website, emails, etc). Transferring a domain simply means switching domain management (name servers, contacts, renewal, etc) from one provider to another. If you would like to also migrate the hosting of your domain to us, please take a look at our Migrate to Us guide in this link below: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/knowledgebase/4809/How-to-migrate-your-hosting-to-us.html Before you begin, first make sure your domain meets all the requirements in the checklist regarding domain transfer process. You can find it here: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/knowledgebase/4787/Requirements-for-Transferring-a-Domain-to-Us.html Step 1: Visit the Domain Transfer page: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/cart.php?a=add&domain=transfer - enter your domain name in the first box (example: google.com). - Click the Transfer button. Step 2: You will be asked to provide the EPP Code ... This can be obtained from your current domain provider (sometimes it's called the Authorization Code). Please contact your domain provider for this information. Click Conform and you will be taken to the next step, which is configuring your domain. - ID Protection: this is optional, but it's recommended to be enabled. - **EPP Code: **once again review your EPP code. - Nameservers: - Name servers are required for linking your domain with a hosting service or a server. By default, our name servers will be filled in this step, but these are only required if you will be ordering a Shared Hosting or a Business Hosting plan from us in the future. - Note that these name server settings here will not take effect unless the domain transfer is completed (within 6 - 7 days from the day your current provider approves the transfer request). - Also note that if you wish to keep the services of the domain where they currently are without change, make sure to enter the current name servers associated with the domain, instead of ours, this is to avoid service disruption as a result of name servers being updated to ours after transfer completion. After configuring your domain, click Continue to proceed to the next steps. Step 3: The final step is review and checkout. After completing all the required info, review your order detail one more time then click on Checkout button, after which you will be redirected to the invoice page for reviewing and making the payment. Depending on the payment method selected, further instructions will be displayed in the invoice details page for making the payment. What's Next? - After making payment and initiating the domain transfer process, the system will retrieve the email address for the administrative contact as shown in WHOIS, and we will send an email to that address containing a link that must be clicked in order to approve the transfer. If you cannot receive an email to this email address, you will need to update the email address in WHOIS via your current registrar and then reach out to us so we can resend the email. - Next, the system will submit the transfer request to the central registry of the domain. This is the final step. If your current registrar allows, you may be able to approve the transfer request from your account on their site at this time. Assuming you do, the transfer will complete within an hour. If your registrar does not allow the user to perform outbound approval, or you elect not to approve the transfer, the transfer will not be complete for a period of 5-6 days. There is unfortunately nothing we can do to expedite the process any further and it is completely out of our hands until the registry releases the domain. This "waiting" period is to give your current registrar time to reject the transfer. If the transfer is rejected, you will be notified by our system. We, unfortunately, will not know the reason for rejection so you will need to follow up with your current registrar.

How to Order a Shared Hosting Plan

In the slideshow below, you will learn how to order a shared hosting plan from us.

How to migrate your hosting to us

To migrate your hosting from another provider to us, there are some considerations which are explained in a bit of detail in this article. Read below. Note: migration of the hosting is different from migration of the domain. To migrate the domain as well, there's a separate article for this purpose, which can be browsed here: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/index.php?rp=/knowledgebase/4788/How-to-Transfer-a-Domain-to-Us.html First of, it is worth noting that this guide applies only for our Shared or Business plans. If you ordered a VPS and wish to migrate your services to it, this has to be done manually by you as VPS services are self-managed and not covered by technical support. Migration Methods: 1. Automatic Migration: This type of migration is performed by us. For this to be done, the following conditions have to be fully met: - The hosting account with the current provider should be on cPanel - The total size of the hosting account should not exceed 10 GB - The Full Account Backup tool in cPanel with the current provider should be supported Once your case suffices the above conditions, you then contact us via a support ticket from your dashboard account with us, explaining the need for migration of a hosting account. Of course, there should already be a suitable active Shared or Business plan in your account. In the ticket content, provide your active service details with us, into which you want to migrate the hosting from the old provider. Then also supply your login details for the hosting plan with your old provider. Our team will then update you in the ticket to inform you with the initialization of the migration process, and also provide an estimated ETA for the duration until the migration is completed. Once the migration is finalized, further instructions will be provided to you in the ticket. 2. Manual Migration: This type of migration is performed by you, when any of the conditions in the scenario above is not met. This scenario usually has no (or minimum) support provided by us for it. Files: You will typically migrate your account from the old hosting to the new one, by downloading your files from the old server to your computer, and then uploading them to your new hosting account. Databases: You will have to do the same for databases as well, if you have any in the old hosting. This is done by exporting them via a tool (typically phpMyAdmin in your old provider control panel) and downloading them from the old hosting to your computer. Next you import these to your new hosting with us, but first, you need to create an empty database for each DB that you wish to import. Instructions on creating databases in our shared or business plans can be explored in this link below: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/index.php?rp=/knowledgebase/2003/cPanel---Databases Once creating databases, you then import to each one via phpMyAdmin tool in cPanel, but it's worth noting that if you exported your databases from the old hosting via a tool other than phpMyAdmin, there may be errors when trying to import them again in your new hosting with us. Note also there may be a maximum limit for the size of the DB that can be imported, and it can be viewed in phpMyAdmin > import section, so it is advised you export your DB from the old hosting in the zip format. Emails: This part involves re-creating email addresses that were present in your old hosting. Note that if your old hosting supports IMAP protocol, you may still have a chance of migrating your old messages to your new addresses. Visit this guide from Google to know more about a tool called IMAP Migration Tool, that may assist you with this matter: https://imapsync.lamiral.info/X/ Note: your email inboxes connection information with us can be found by following this guide: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/index.php?rp=/knowledgebase/4801/How-to-View-Email-Client-Configuration.html Note that while your domain is still pointing to the old hosting, email server to be used in this case will be your new hosting server's address, it is different for each hosting plan, so yours can be obtained by following this guide: https://dash.wevrlabs.net/index.php?rp=/knowledgebase/4786/How-to-View-Nameservers-and-Other-Service-Information.html
